中国語、英語講座の講師、生徒大募集

留学委員会では、去年の好評を受け、今年度から、引き続き語学講座を開講する予定です。ただいま講師も生徒も募集中です！

講 師は面接により京大の留学生から選抜します。生徒は基本的に京大の学生、職員を対象にしていますが、京大以外の方も大歓迎です。今年は英語、中国語各２ コース４講座を予定しています（但し、応募人数により変更する場合もあります）。京大構内という距離的メリットに加え、一般の語学スクールよりも圧倒的に 安い価格で語学のスキル・アップが図れます。

時期：５月から7月まで（予定）」

週１回（60分）　全10回　（一人5000円の予定）

場所：「あの部屋（吉田ショップの２階）

内容：英語、中国語による日常会話（基礎クラス、応用クラス）

経験者も未経験者も大歓迎。

　世界各国の新年　New Year's Celebrations Around The World

新年は世界各地でいつも一月一日に始まるわけではない。各文化圏において新年は同じ日ではないが、それはお祝いと新しい一年の好運を招く時期となっている。The new year doesn't always begin on January 1 everywhere today. Although the date for New Year's Day is not the same in every culture, it is always a time for celebration and for customs to ensure good luck in the　coming year.

中国の新年は１月17日と2月19日の間で、三日月の日にある。世界各地の中国人はそれを祝う。にぎやかな提灯行列は中国新年の欠かせないものである。新年の時に悪霊が動き出すと信じられ、人々は爆竹を鳴らし、切り紙細工を窓やドアに貼ることによって、彼らを追い払おうとする。。The Chinese New Year is celebrated some time between January 17 and February 19, at the time of the new moon． It is celebrated by Chinese people all over the world, and street processions are an exciting part of their New Year. The Festival of Lanterns is the street processions, and thousands of lanterns are used to light the way for the New Year. The Chinese people believe that there are evil spirits around at New Year, so they let off firecrackers to frighten the spirits away. Sometimes they seal their windows and doors with paper to keep the evil spirits out.

ベトナムでは新年がTet Nguyen Dan と呼ばれ、それは1月19日と2月19日 の間に行われ、日にちは年ごとに変わる。ベトナム人は各家に神様がいる信じ、そして新年の時に神様は天国に行って、家のメンバーの過去一年の行為の善悪に ついて報告すると思われる。彼らは神様が鯉の背中に乗って天国へ行くとかつて信じていたので、今時々買ってきた鯉を河や池に離す。In Vietnam, the New Year is called Tet Nguyen Dan or Tet for short. It begins between January 21 and February 19, and the exact day changes from year to year. They believe that there is a god in every home, and at the New Year this god travels to heaven. There he will say how good or bad each member of the family has been in the past year. They used to believe that the god traveled on the back of a fish called a carp, and today, they sometimes buy a live carp, and then let it go free in a river or pond.

ギリシアで、新年は聖バシリウスの祭りでもある。聖バシリウスはその親切さで知られる。ギリシアの子供達は靴を火の側に置いて、彼にギフトを入れてくれるようと願う。In Greece, New Year's Day is also the Festival of Saint Basil. Saint Basil was famous for his kindness, and Greek children leave their shoes by the fire on New Year's Day with the hope that he will come and fill the shoes with gifts.

新年は、スコットランドでHogamanayと 呼ばれて、いくつかの村で、人々はたくさんのタールに火をつけ、町で歩き回り、それは古い年が燃えつき新たな一年を迎えるようにするためである。スコット ランドの人々は、新年に初めて訪れてくる人が好運か厄運をもたらすと信じている。ギフトを持ってくれる人が黒髪なら好運がやってくるのだと思われる。その 習慣はファースト・フーティングと呼ばれている。In Scotland, New Year is called Hogmanay, and in some villages barrels of tar are set alight and rolled through the streets. Thus, the old year is burned up and the new one allowed to enter. Scottish people believe that the first person to enter your house in the New Year will bring good or bad luck, and it is very good luck if the visitor is a dark-haired man bringing a gift. This custom is called first-footing.

フランスでは新年の時家族が集まってギフトと年賀状を交換する。子ともはいつも親に手作りのプレゼントを渡して「Bonne Annee！（新年おめでとう）」と言う。In France. families gather and exchange gifts and greeting cards. Children often present their parents with homemade gifts to wish them Bonne Annee.

イタリアで人々はヤドリギを玄関に飾って家族全員の幸せを祈る。In Italy, a piece of mistletoe is hung over the front door to bring good luck to the entire household.

答：エチオピア。(Ethiopia)

　　エチオピアでは12月までが30日ずつあり、その後に5日間だけ13月が存在する。一日を24時間とするのは同じだが、エチオピア同士一日を午前6時から数える習慣を持っている。There are 30 days for each month till December, and the 13^th month has only five days in Ethiopia. It is the same to have 24 hours a day, but they hold a custom to count a day from 6:00 am.

皆さん、こんにちは。留学生タイムズです。最近ずいぶん寒くなりました～十二月に入り、クリスマスもそろそろですね。皆さんはどうお過ごしでしょうか？さて、今月のトピックに入りまぁ～す。

世界中のクリスマス　Christmas　All around the World

世界中の国々ではそれぞれの国の風習に合わせて、クリスマス　――イエスの誕生を祝っている。ここで各国の異なるクリスマスを紹介していきたいと思う。　All around　the world,　people celebrate Christmas―the　birth of Jesus and made a　Christmas that fits their own country. We will introduce these very different kinds of Christmas for you.

SPAIN

スペインでは、パパノエル（フランスなどの国でのサンタクロースのニックネーム）がバルコニーを登ってプレゼントを届ける。1月6日に「東方の三賢者」も家を訪れて子供たちにプレゼントを届けに来る。　In SPAIN, Papa Noel delivers his presents by climbing up balconies. On January 6, the three wise men come to visit and also leave　gifts for the children.

MEXICO

メキシコでは、子供たちは時々プレゼントを受け取るために靴下の代わりに靴を外に置く。クリスマスイブに、ベルと長い棒の先端にさしたキャンドルを持った歌手がパレードする。彼らは町を歩き回って最後に教会に辿り着く。　In MEXICO, children sometimes leave their shoes out instead of stockings. On Christmas Eve there is a parade of singers carrying bells and candles on top of long poles. They wind through the streets until they get to the local church.

NORWAY

ノルウェーの人々は、クリスマスイブに農場を守ってくれる地の神を祭るため、「nisse」と呼ばれるおかゆを物置に置く。子供たちが、綺麗に飾られたクリスマスツリーと、その真下に溢れているプレゼントを初めて見た時、家族みんなで手をつないでクリスマスキャロルを歌う。　In NORWAY, on Christmas Eve, a bowl of porridge, "nisse" is left in the barn for the gnome who protects the farm. When the children first see their Christmas tree all decorated, with presents underneath, the family joins hands and circles the tree　singing carols.

KENYA

ケニアでは教会が風船、リボン、花、クリスマスツリーなどで飾られる。クリスマスディナーでは遠くから集まってきた親族でバーベキューをする。　In KENYA, the churches are decorated with balloons, ribbons, flowers and green plants as well as Christmas trees. Christmas dinner is often a barbecue with family members traveling from far away to be together again.

BRITAIN

イギリスでは子供たちはサンタクロースに手紙を書き、煙突から北極まで煙とともに漂うように暖炉に投げ入れる。イギリスは最初にヤドリギを掛け飾った国である。　In BRITAIN, children write their letters to Father Christmas and then throw them into the fireplace so they will float up the chimney and fly to the North Pole. Britain was the first country to hang up mistletoe.

NEW ZEALAND

ニュージーランドでは、クリスマスは真夏日にやってくる。イブにサンタはホットドリンクの代わりに冷たいビールを飲む。クリスマスディナーは、家族でピクニックするかビーチで食事をする。ホットターキーよりも冷たいハムが伝統的である。　In New Zealand, it is the middle of summer at Christmas time. Instead of a hot drink Santa often gets a cooling beer as a snack on Christmas Eve. Christmas day families often have a picnic or go to the beach for Christmas Dinner. It is more traditional to have a cold ham than a hot turkey.

AUSTRALIA

オーストラリアでは、サンタのそりは八匹のホワイトカンガルーによって引かれる。人々は屋外でクリスマスディナーを食べる。食事の後、人々はビーチへ遊びに行くかクリケットをする。　In AUSTRALIA, Santa's sleigh is pulled by eight white kangaroos. Christmas dinner is eaten outdoors and is followed by a visit to the beach or a game of cricket.

◆ イベントのお知らせ

①　留学生委員会説明会

時間：11月10日（水曜日）　18：30～

場所：吉田食堂二階

　皆さんは1 0月29日の留学生新歓パーティーを存分楽しんでいたと思います。あの日の心に響く音楽、情熱溢れたダンス、新しく知り合った人との楽しい会話などはまだ記憶に残っていますか？私たち留学生委員会は毎年このような楽しいイベントを何度も行っています。11月10日の夜に留学生委員会の活動についての説明会がありますので、異文化コミュニケーションに少しでも興味を持っている方、あるいは新歓パーティーを通じて持つようになった方は気楽に来てください。

① The Introductory Meeting of Foreign Student Committee

Place: On the second floor of Yoshida Cafeteria

　We think you have enjoyed yourselves in the Welcome Party on Oct. 10th.Our Foreign Student Committee hold this kind of events several times every year. If you are interested in our activities, please come to our Introductory Meeting.

②　中華料理担担面の店

時間：11月19日（金曜日）の夜（ＮＦの前夜祭）

場所：吉田グランド

　いよいよＮＦがやってきます。去年の大好評を受け、留学委員会は今年も民族料理の店を出すつもりです。お店の担当 者は中国四川出身の委員会メンバ（実家はラーメン屋さんらしい！！）で、美味しい担担面を作ってくれます。本場の中華を味わえるのは前夜祭だけなので、皆 さんぜひこのチャンスを逃さずに食べに来てください！

②　The booth of Chinese Tantan noodles

Date: 19th Nov (Fri)

Place: Ground Yoshida

November Festival is coming. We will offer you the Chinese Tantan noodles in November Festival Eve. Our chief is from Sichuan of China, so don’t miss the chance to taste the delicious Chinese food.

③ ＮＬＫ西山祭典2004

時間：11月27、28日（土、日）　11：00～

場所：桂キャンパス

今年の西山祭典で「インターナショナル屋台と西山料理」をやります。世界各国の民族料理と西山地産地消の体にやさしい食事が楽しめます。留学生委員会は中華料理屋を出しますので、皆さんのご来店をお待ちしております。

③　The Westmountain Festival 2004

Date: 27.28th Nov (Sat, Sun)

Place: Campus Katsura

There will be an event called “International Booth and Westmountain Food” in the Westmountain Festival. We will put out real Chinese Foods and wait for your coming.

今月から、私たち（周小星、周彤―-ダブル周と言われていますが）が留学生TIMESを担当することになりました。よろしくお願いします。

◆ Self Introduction

From this month, we (Zhou Xiaoxing and Zhou Tong-They call us double Zhou) will take on this page –Foreign Students TIMES. We hope we can have a happy time together!

◆ ２あなたはこれを知っていますか？

今現在、１２４４人の留学生は京都大学に在学しています。そのうちの８０．９％はアジア人です。80年代中曽根前首相が１０万の留学生を取り入れる政策を打ち出して以来、日本に在住する外国人留学生は年々増え、２００３年に１０９５０８人に達しました。近年、アジア諸国の経済発展につれ、私費留学生の人数が大幅に増えました。

◆ Do You Know This?

Now there are 1244 foreign students in Kyoto University. 80.9% of them are Asian. Since Nakasone ex-premier put in the policy in 80s, the number of the foreign students has grown year by year. And it got up to 109508 in 2003.Recently, with the Asian countries’ economical development, the number of the foreign students who are studying at their own expenses demands a big raise.

◆ 3留学生が薦める本場の外国料理のお店

東大路と三条の交差点の近くに「龍門」という中華料理屋さんがあります。そちらの料理人は全て中国人のベテランシェフで、中国留学生の間では高い評価を得ています。本場の中華料理を味わいたい人は一度訪ねてみてはいかがですか？

◆ The Recommendation of the Foreign Students----A Foreign Restaurant

There is a Chinese restaurant called [LONG MEN] near by the intersection of Higashioji Street and Sanjo Street. The cooks there are all Chinese and it’s getting a high valuation from the Chinese students. It’s worth visiting for someone who wants to taste the native Chinese foods.
